Wright places our soft addictions into four different categories. Although all of these behaviors are normal, they cross the line into 'soft addiction' when they are used as ways to numb our feelings or avoid dealing with difficult issues in our lives. If our behavior choices lead us to feeling more fulfilled and/or energized to address certain aspects of our lives than they can be viewed as positive choices. However, if after we have participated in any of the following we end up feeling even more drained or restless or if some aspect of our life has suffered because of it, then we are likely looking at a soft addiction.
